英国家具及家具装饰品的防火规章1988（法规号1324）1989,1993和2010年修订。依据 BS 5852:part 1:1979,和part 2:1982 进行测试。因此出口到英国的软体家具必须满足BS 5852相应的组分阻燃测试。
英国是首个对软体家具的阻燃性能设计标准的国家，因此，对其他欧洲国家以及欧洲标准化委员会日后制定软体家具阻燃标准时有重要的参考意义，所以在后来的其他国家/地区的家具阻燃标准不乏有BS 5852的身影。
BS 5852 家具及家具装饰品的防火规章 － 解析
BS 5852用于判定当受到一燃烧香烟和火柴或等同的火源，材料组合的可燃性（如软座的覆面和填充材料）。
在英国所有款式的家庭软垫家具必须符合“家具防火安全条款”，1988的修订BS 5852第一部分和BS 5852 第二部分被BSI撤销，但仍用于所述引用标准提到的条款。

BS 5852 家具及家具装饰品的防火规章 － 测试方法
该测试须在标准空气流的实验室里进行，覆面材料和填充物被置于一个测试设备中用来制作出一个底座和靠背成90o一个小沙发。点火源置于该沙发的底座和靠背之间的连接处，有6种不同的点火源，编号为2-7，其中2-3为气体燃烧火源，4-7木制品燃烧火源（更高的数字代表同组更强烈的火源）。
在气体燃烧过程中从开始起闷烧时间不超过30分钟（木制品燃烧源则不超过60分钟），如该测试不能表明火源向上100mm外不同方向均烧焦炭化，则气体火焰在40秒后移去（火源2）或70秒后移去（火源3），没有火焰时允许持续到移去燃烧管超过120秒后，没有火焰时允许持续火源5测试开始10分钟后（火源6-7则为13分钟）。
